SCOTT THOMPSON
Why does he do all this stuff? Why doesn’t he just focus on one thing like the acting, the modeling, the philanthropy? I once asked Scott this very question and his answer was that he does it because he has no choice. I asked him to explain, and he went on to say in that ‘aw shucks’ way that has endeared him to multiple generations that he’s an artist. He said that every day when he wakes up his first thought is ‘how can I make the world if not a better place, a more entertaining one.’ You’re probably thinking, “What a pretentious ass? This is not a young man. His first thought is more likely to be ‘ I have to pee.’ “Many of you are also probably thinking, ‘Who the hell are you anyway to speak for Scott?’ Are you his tutor, his best friend, his conscience? How do you know all this stuff and why are you talking so much when we came here to see Scott. ‘ The simple answer is that I am Scott. I have just been writing in the third person informal because that’s Website Design 101. I was trying to make my website designer happy but that stops here! Right Now!
If my incessant cheerleading hasn’t turned you off by now, let me tell you what I’m working on currently.
Since the Kids in the Hall reboot on Amazon, I’ve been in a creative reboot tizzy. I immediately got back together with my old band “Mouth Congress” with my old pal Paul Bellini, and before we knew it, we had a double album of 16 original tracks. It’s called ‘Valley of Song,’ and I think you’re going to love it.
On the acting front, I will be returning to the second season of the Netflix series FUBAR starring Arnold Schwarzenegger where I play his psychiatrist Dr. Louis Pfeffer. My screenplay ‘Dance With My Bones’ is also now in development. I will keep you posted as it develops.
On the Buddy Cole front, join me on my 2024 tour, where he will be presenting his new show, ‘KING,’ a series of lacerating monologues that guide Buddy inexorably through the fires of a crumbling civilization to a staggering conclusion.
That’s it for now. See you soon!!
You might know Scott as a member of the groundbreaking comedy troupe the Kids In The Hall or perhaps as Brian, the loyal assistant to Hank Kingsley on Garry Shandling’s groundbreaking HBO series, The Larry Sanders Show or even as Jimmy Price, the wry FBI agent on Bryan Fuller’s groundbreaking NBC series Hannibal. My point is he has done more ground breaking than an architect, and that doesn’t even touch on all the other shows he’s appeared in from ‘Tim and Eric’ to his career as a standup comedian and purveyor of one person shows or his several published books, his visual art, his countless talk show, and hosting appearances, his recording career with his rock band Mouth Congress or even his multiple websites and blogs beginning in 1996 with the, yes, groundbreaking website ‘Scottland,’ the original seed from which “NewScottLand” grew and which subsequently gave birth to this new iteration “NewScottLandLand”!!
